Hidden among the rugged cliffs of the Costa Brava lies the picturesque fishing village of Cadaqués. This charming village, with its whitewashed houses and narrow, winding streets, is a true oasis of tranquility and beauty. Located on the azure Mediterranean Sea, Cadaqués offers an enchanting mix of natural splendor and cultural richness.

Cadaqués has a magical allure for artists and writers, inspired by its breathtaking landscape. It is best known as the home of the famous surrealist painter Salvador Dalí, whose house in nearby Portlligat is now a fascinating museum. A visit to this museum provides a unique insight into the life and work of this eccentric artist. It's best to book tickets online in advance, as all time slots were already full when we tried to visit the house on the same day.

Strolling through the cobblestone streets of Cadaqués, you'll discover numerous galleries, boutiques, and traditional Spanish tapas bars. The Church of Santa Maria, proudly towering above the village, offers a panoramic view over the bay and is a perfect starting point for exploration. The beautiful promenade along the coastline invites leisurely walks, where you can enjoy the sight of colorful fishing boats gently swaying on the waves.

The surrounding nature is just as impressive, with the Cap de Creus natural park inviting adventurous hikes and spectacular views. The rugged coastline and hidden coves provide perfect opportunities for snorkeling, kayaking, or simply basking in the sun on a secluded beach.

Cadaqués is more than a destination; it is an experience that captures your heart and rejuvenates your soul. Whether you are seeking artistic inspiration, a romantic getaway, or simply a place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, Cadaqués has something for everyone. Let yourself be enchanted by the timeless charm of this pristine village and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Talla

In a beautiful waterfront location in Cadaqués, you will find a hidden gem of a restaurant called Talla. At Talla, they serve a variety of mainly seafood dishes, along with a few refined meat dishes. The portions are small, designed to be shared. We chose several oysters, including a natural oyster, grilled oysters with BBQ spices (our absolute favorite! We ended up ordering more of these), and oysters with ponzu sauce and salmon roe. Afterwards, we opted for a gratin of spider crab, steak tartare with meat from a marrow bone, and cannelloni filled with pulled chicken and a foie gras sauce. We enjoyed a cocktail and rosé wine with our meal and paid around €70 per person. There are a few indoor seats available, but if you prefer to sit by the water with a beautiful view, it’s best to call ahead to reserve a table. You can do so at +34 972 25 87 39.

Next door, the same owners operate Batalla. Batalla is a seafood restaurant where the dishes might be slightly less special than at Talla, but it also offers a beautiful setting and an extensive menu.

We would definitely go back again.
